Just after 2:30a.m. this morning a call came in through 911 in regards to a vehicle fire and accident on FM 1375 near Osborne in the Sam Houston National Forest. Montgomery Fire Department was dispatched as was the Forest Service Fire crews due the the woods also burning.
According to DPS Trooper Williams a male was westbound on FM 1375 at a high rate of speed. After crossing a bride the Nissan Titan drifted off to the right shoulder of the road in a slight curve. The driver than over corrected crossing both lanes, going up a grassy incline and flipping several times. The vehicle then impacted a tree and burst into flames.
When fire crews arrived almost one-fourth of an acre was consumed. Also the truck was heavily involved.
The unidentified male approximately 26-years-old was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace, Lanny Moriarty.The Judge ordered Sam Houston Funeral Home to transport the body to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.
It is believed he is possibly active military currently.
Several beer cans were found on the ground but it has not been determined if alcohol is a factor in the crash,or if the cans had just been in the vehicle.
FM 1375 reopened at 6:00 a.m.
As of noon DPS has been unable to make notification of next of kin.
