Precinct 4 Deputy Juan Chapa stopped a Ford pickup at Ford Road and Loop 494 at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon for a traffic offense. He asked the driver Lisa Cox age 41, of 5100 Enchanted Timbers in Humble to step out of the vehicle.
As he was talking with her, the passenger Wendy Roney got out of the vehicle and attempted to walk to a store on the corner. When he stopped and asked for her identification also. She also has one gram of meth on her person.He was then advised that she had an open warrant out of Texas City for forgery and a $75,000 bond. He placed he in custody and discovered scales and small baggies that are normally used to package narcotics in the vehicle. He also found a large number of checks between the seat and console.
He placed both in custody and transported them to the Precinct 4 Office for further questioning. It was there that Wendy Roney, age 43 of 5700 Toddington in Humble, admitted to have taken checks from family members to get routing numbers so she could print her own checks.
Also with the checks were several made out to her and one made to Lisa Cox. Cox had attempted to cash it at the Ace Checking in Porter but it was refused when they determined funds were not in the account.
Roney had also attempted to cash checks at the Chevron on Ford Road in Porter. Citgo at Loop 494 and North Park in Kingwood, Also she attempted top cash one at the Shell on Atascocita and Will Clayton.
Roney was released from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice recently. Roney has a long record in the State of Texas.

Tonight both are resting well in the Tommy Gage Hotel in Conroe. Lisa Cox is charged with one count of forgery.
Wendy Roney is charged with possession of a controlled substance with a $70,000 bond and two counts of fraudulent possession of identifying information with a $60,000 bond on each. She is also being held for Texas City on their $75,000 bond.
Roney is currently on probation in Harris County.
