About noon Monday a male driver and his male passenger were westbound on FM 2854 at Leonidas Horton. The driver of the Volkswagen pulled to the right shoulder then made an immediate u-turn in front of a dump truck. That truck was also westbound. The dump truck impacted the driver’s door before running into the ditch in the eastbound lanes. Both persons in the Volkswagen were transported to HCA Conroe in critical condition. The crash damaged the truck’s oil pan covering the roadway with motor oil. Miller Wrecker and Miller HAZMAT responded to the scene. The road was closed for the DPS investigation and cleanup and reopened at 3:45 pm. The dump truck driver was not injured. Lake Conroe Fire assisted in extracting the victims from the vehicle.
