At about 9 am, MCHD responded to a reported major accident along with Magnolia Fire. Just as units were arriving a second call came in a very short distance away on a stabbing. Units arrived to find a vehicle had been hit head-on by a northbound dump truck. The driver of the vehicle was deceased. Other units responded and found a male deceased at the reported stabbing scene. DPS responded to the crash but has since relinquished the scene to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. It is now being investigated as a murder/suicide. FM 149 is closed from SH 249 to Spur 149. FM 1488 is an alternate, but traffic there is almost at a standstill. According to MCSO a the owner of the home on FM 149 heard a disturbance. When she went to investigate, she found her husband, who is in his 70s, with multiple wounds from a machete. At the same time, a 35-year-old male, believed to be the victims step-son, was pulling out of the garage in a family vehicle. As he turned down FM 149 southbound, he accelerated, swerved into the northbound lane, and struck the dump truck head-on. At 1:30pm FM 149 remains closed to all traffic at least for several more hours. Masters Environmental is on the scene with a large diesel spill from the dump truck. Saddle Creek is also on the scene to load the dump truck.
