At approximately 5:55 pm on November 23, 2019, a black 2009 Dodge Ram 2500, driven by Jay Myers, 18, of Colmesneil, was west-bound on US-190 East. Myers allegedly crossed the center line and clipped an east-bound black 2016 Nissan Armada, driven by Lional Kenebrew, 36, of Newton. The impact caused Kenebrew’s vehicle to leave the pavement to the right and roll. Myers’ pickup slid into a red 2016 Ford Escape, driven by Zachary Riley, 28, of Livingston, that was sitting at the stop sign on Beech Creek Road. Kenebrew and a 13 year old male passenger were both ejected during the rollover and, sadly, both were killed. Kenebrew’s wife, 34-year-old Ashley was treated at the scene by EMS Personnel and flown by PHi Air Medical to Conroe Regional Hospital with serious injuries. Additionally, a 9-year-old girl and a 13 year old girl passenger in Kenebrew’s vehicle were both transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Myers was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Troopers Colton McQuilkin and Chris Cain with the Texas Highway Patrol were dispatched to investigate and were assisted by Sergeant Adam Norris and Deputy Adrian Ontiveros with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit was dispatched to the scene. All traffic on 190 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Why Myers crossed the center line remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol. Justice of the Peace, Robert “Dooley” Johnson performed inquests at the scene. Lional Kenebrew and the deceased juvenile were both transported from the scene by Cochran Funeral Home to the Jefferson County Medical Examiners Office. Kenebrew’s vehicle was recovered by Ken’s Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. Myers’ pickup was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker and will be stored in Goodrich. Riley’s vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
