LIBERTY COUNTY, TX– Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a fatal crash involving a train and a motor vehicle on FM 160 north of U.S. Highway 90, that occurred today, June 12, 2023.
The preliminary investigation indicates just before 10:30 a.m., the driver of a 2019 Toyota Rav 4 traveling north, disregarded the activated railroad crossing arms and was struck by a train traveling west.
The driver of the Toyota was identified as 63-year-old Linda Warren Durio of Liberty, Texas. The passenger was identified as 48-year-old Demetria Louise Semien of Liberty, Texas. Both were pronounced deceased on scene by Justice of the Peace Jimmy Belt.
The train engineer and two passengers were not injured.
This investigation is on-going and there is no additional information available for release at this time.
