On Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 8:44 am, the Cleveland Police Department received a call advising of a shooting that had just occurred at the Cleveland Municipal Airport (17699 FM 787).
Upon arrival at the airport, Cleveland Police Officers found a gunshot victim lying near a runway hanger; the victim was later pronounced deceased at the site of the shooting.
While processing the crime scene, Cleveland PD Investigators determined the deceased male was a twenty-nine-year-old (Cleveland address) and a current contract employee for the airport. Investigators determined that a twenty-year-old ex-employee arrived at the airport and approached the victim while carrying a shotgun. The suspect demanded that the victim get into his car, and the victim refused. Upon refusal, the suspect shot the victim and fled the scene. The suspect fled in a 2016 Silver Nissan four-door car.
Cleveland Police Dispatch issued a regional broadcast alerting other agencies of the suspect and vehicle description. The Colorado County Sheriff’s Department, with the assistance of the Eagle Lake Police Department, was able to apprehend the suspect at 12:13 pm.
