UPDATE-LIBERTY COUNTY PURSUIT AND FATAL CRASH-SPLENDORA MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER

On the evening of Tuesday, December 11, 2024, at approximately 8:34 p.m., a Liberty County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted a traffic stop on FM 1010 in the Plum Grove area. The deputy identified a discrepancy between the license plate and the vehicle to which it was attached, prompting the stop.

The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Scotty Addison, 48, of Splendora, initially slowed as if to comply but then accelerated, leading the deputy on a high-speed pursuit. The chase continued onto CR 340 and CR 3405, with speeds reaching up to 75 miles per hour.

The vehicle eventually turned onto a private driveway, drove through a chained gate, and continued down a muddy road before losing control after encountering a small washout. Tragically, the passenger, later identified as Sandra Kay Bradley, 38, was ejected from the vehicle and became trapped beneath it. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver fled the scene on foot but was located approximately 40 minutes later by a K-9 unit. Addison was found hiding in a drainage ditch, submerged up to his neck in water. He was taken into custody, evaluated for minor injuries at Kingwood Hospital, and subsequently transported to the Liberty County Jail. He is being held on a $1 million bond.

Addison is charged with Murder in connection with the death of Sandra Kay Bradley. Preliminary investigations indicate the vehicle involved in the incident was reported stolen out of the Houston area.
