At 3:15 pm, a Montgomery County Precinct 2 Deputy stopped a truck on Loop 336 South near Carl Barton Park. The driver pulled into the park and exited the vehicle. A confrontation took place, three shots were fired, one striking the suspect in the hand. The suspect then jumped into the truck and fled deeper into the park, exited the vehicle, and fled on foot. He was quickly apprehended. He was transported to the hospital in stable condition. The Deputy was also transported for precautionary measures. MCSO is investigating as well as the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office. At the time of the incident, there was a baseball game going on at the far side of the park. One of those players said they heard a few shots, then started seeing a bunch of police. The suspect is identified as John Laredo, age 34, who has several prior assault charges on him.
