UPDATE-NURSING HOME MURDER-SUICIDE

A tragic murder-suicide rocked Polk County Wednesday morning. At 9:17 a.m. the Livingston Police Department received a report of a shooting at the Pine Ridge Health Care facility, a nursing home located at 1620 US Hwy 59 North, Livingston. The information received was the shooting was confined to one room in the facility that involved a female patient and her husband. Upon arrival of Officers and EMS both female and her husband were each found deceased from a single shot gun wound. There was a handgun found on the scene that was used by the husband. The evidence found at the scene indicate the husband identified as Horris Jackson(82) of Livingston went to visit his wife who is identified as Irene Jackson(78) of Livingston. The preliminary investigation indicates that Horris Jackson shot his wife and then turned the weapon on himself. There is no motive at this time that lead to the shooting and the case is still under investigation. The two bodies were released to Cochran Funeral Home and an autopsy has been ordered by Judge Steven McEntyre. This was a isolated incident in the facility and there was no other injuries reported. The investigation is continuing with pending reports of the autopsy
