UPDATE OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING

A Montgomery County Precinct 4 Deputy witnessed a blue Honda passenger car passing on the shoulder at Roman Forest and I-69 southbound. The vehicle failed to stop for the deputy, and a pursuit ensued.
on I-69 southbound. Speeds were well overĀ  130 mph. in heavy traffic, causing other motorists to take evasive action. The vehicle entered Harris County and exited Will Clayton over the median to the feeder. He went through the Rankin intersection and stopped at the Fuel Max.Ā  Precinct 4 deputy attempted to contact the driver after the vehicle stopped. The vehicle fled again, and in fear of other motorists lives on the roadways, one of the deputies shot at the tires in the vehicle in an attempt to disable it, the vehicle turned toward the deputy and the deputy then fired several more shots toward the vehicle as the deputy was in fear of his life. The pursuit then continued south onĀ  I-69 main lanes. The vehicle crashed out at Exit 144A , the Beltway 8 Exit. The suspect then began cutting himself with razor blades and started fighting with deputies. Deputies took the suspect into custody and applied life-saving measures. The suspect was transported to Ben Taub Hospital by HFD with non-life-threatening self-inflicted injuries.
The suspect, a male Honduran national will be charged with evading in a motor vehicle. Reckless driving, Assault on a peace officer. The scene remains active as Houston Police Crime Scene Units and the Harris County District Attorney’s Officer investigate.
