Harris County Precinct 4 Deputy Shannon Lance was injured Thursday when he was struck by a Port of Houston motorcycle officer while he and Lance were escorting a funeral to Klien Funeral home in Magnolia. His leg was severely injured and he lost a large amount of blood on the scene. MCHD transported both officers to St. Luke’s Hospital. Lance with his leg, Castillo, the other officer as a precaution.
As of this evening Shannon Lance has been transported to Hermann Hospital in Houston where after two surgeries doctors still have not been able to control the bleeding. At this time he has used several units of whole blood. He is scheduled for surgery again on Monday as doctors try to stop the bleeding and save his leg.
Deputies are starting a fund for him which we will post once we have the information.
