Fire crews from Cut n Shoot, Caney Creek, Splendora and North Montgomery County Fire Departments were released from the fire at 12:05 this morning.
The Texas Forest Service and the U.S. Forest Service remain on the scene shoring up the lines. Residents will see and smell smoke for the next few days as interior fires are extinguished.
The fire which came in at 4:45p.m. which was about the same time the Forest Service aircraft spotted it was over 7 hours of hard, intense work in the heat for firefighters. A total of 198 acres burned. The cause has yet to be determined.
The burn ban still remains in effect for Montgomery County.
There is a line around the fire at this time and no danger of it crossing the already well fortified line.
In addition to the departments fighting the blaze yesterday were the “Cowboy’s of the Sky”, the helicopter pilots who run after run dipped into a stock pond and returning to drop their water on the fire.
A uncut video has been posted. Included in the video is the helicopter operations , from dropping it to refilling with water.
