On Saturday, April 5, 2025, at approximately 1 AM, Kristin Watkins was operating a 2012 Nissan Altima in the 6900 block of SH 99, near Kuykendahl. Ms. Watkins was traveling eastbound in the westbound main lanes of SH 99 when she collided with a 1996 Ford Ranger driven by Daniel Arellano. The impact occurred on the front left of Ms. Watkins’ vehicle, causing Mr. Arellano’s truck to rotate counterclockwise. At that time, Peter Svetaka was operating a 2023 Volkswagen Atlas in lane two, which subsequently struck Mr. Arellano’s Ford Ranger on the left passenger side with its front end, resulting in the Ford Ranger overturning onto its roof. ESD11 arrived on the scene and pronounced Ms. Watkins deceased due to injuries sustained in the collision. This incident remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
