On 06/12/2018 a Liberty County Deputy was notified that a Splendora Police Department patrol unit was in pursuit of a white Dodge Ram pickup pulling a silver trailer. The vehicle was heading North on US-59. When the suspect vehicle entered in to Liberty County the LCSO deputy activated the patrol emergency lights and pursued the fleeing vehicle. The suspect vehicle exited US-59 on to FM-2025. The fleeing vehicle reached the speed of 80mph.
The suspect vehicle appeared to loose control and nearly flipped over in the roadway. The vehicle then turned off of FM-2025 and went behind a building. The vehicle attempted to turn on a private drive and struck a tent and a pile of lumber. The collision disabled the vehicle. The LCSO deputy observed a white male exit the pickup on the passenger side. The LCSO deputy drew his service weapon and the suspect surrendered. The Splendora police officer placed the suspect in custody.
The suspect was identified as Jerry Allen Long, W/M, DOB: 10/10/1978. The trailer was reported stolen.
