Monday, at approximately 11:32 am, Conroe Police Officers were dispatched to Walmart located at 18700, Highway 105 W. in reference to a shoplifter in progress of concealing several items of merchandise while inside the store. As the suspect was exiting the store, a loss prevention employee attempted to stop the suspect outside the store. The suspect immediately pulled away from the Walmart employee, displayed a hand gun and pointed it at the employee. With customers and the Conroe Officer standing in what would have been the line of fire a Conroe Officer, in fear for the life of the Walmart employee and other citizens in the area fired three shots, at least one shot hit the suspect in left shoulder. The suspect was taken to Conroe Regional Medical Center, treated and released back into police custody. No one else was injured or hurt. The gun the suspect displayed was later found to be air soft/bb gun. Jenetta Welch’s car was hit by errant police gunfire. She was inside the store at the time, working. “Just wrong place, wrong time. It’s pretty big. It’s Montgomery. It’s pretty crazy,” she said.Police have now identified him as Christopher Fillmore, 36. He was shot in the shoulder, according to investigators, and will survive.
Fillmore has now been charged with aggravated robbery. He was treated and released from the hospital and is now in police custody.
This is not Fillmores first brush with the law.
