man found dead in house fire

Just before 6am Thursday Cleveland and Splendora Fire Departments were dispatched to a house fire on C.R. 3704 just off East River. The original report said victims were trapped.

On arrival they found a single wide mobile home heavily involved with fire. Additional help was requested fro New Caney Fire Department.

A woman was discovered with minor burns to her hands and a male identified as Louis Vollmer had second degree burns. Cleveland EMS transported Vollmer to the Cleveland Police helipad and the victim was transported in stable condition to Hermann Hospital in Houston.

The fire was brought under control shortly after but a victim still said to be inside was not found until after 9am. He was discovered in the area of the front bedroom and had fallen through the floor when it collapsed. The body was sent to Beaumont for autopsy.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Liberty County Fire Marshal and the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.

There was no power to the home which was being remodeled. There was a generator but it did not appear to be connected to anything.
