At 250am MCHD received a report of a motorcycle crash on Interstate 45 northbound at the Lake Woodlands exit. It was reported the driver was down and CPR was in progress. South Montgomery County Fire Department arrived on scene first and reported a critical patient with CPR in progress. MCHD arrived on the scene but were unable to save the driver.
According to DPS the 2009 Harley was northbound on I-45 when the driver , Eric Eugene Lerma, 32 of Tomball lost control on the wet road and hit the guardrail between the freeway and exit ramp. He was ejected. His motorcycle continued across the freeway hitting the inside wall.
Montgomery County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Edie Connelly was dispatched the scene to perform an inquest. She ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.
Oak Ridge Police and Montgomery County Sheriff deputies assisted with traffic control.
