ORIGINAL STORY
Just before 4 am in heavy fog Porter Fire Department was dispatched to a major accident with entrapment and fire. Units arrived on the scene to find a Chevrolet Traverse that had hit the traffic signal pole and burst into flames. Flames were reported to be 100 feet in the air. Once the fire was extinguished, a lone female driver was found in the driver’s seat. She was deceased and burned. DPS Troopers investigated the crash. It was determined that the SUV was westbound on SH 99 feeder when it struck the pole. The force was so great that it cracked the concrete base of the light, broke an illumination light. One of the headlights, which was ejected from the vehicle, was found over 200 feet away. The Montgomery County Medical Investigator responded to the scene. Eickenhorst Funeral Directors transported the unidentified victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy. The feeder reopened at 10:30 am.
