VICTIM OF FATAL CRASH IDENTIFIED

Just after 2 a.m. an Acadian Ambulance was southbound on FM 1314. As they approached McQueen Road a white Ford Ranger pickup truck passed them and went to the shoulder of the road. The driver then pulled back into the moving lane of traffic and started to weave before crossing the northbound lanes of FM 1314, running off the side of the road and crossing McQueen through the ditch. There were no skid marks as the truck continued along the tree line crashing through several small billboards and crashing into a tree.

The ambulance crew immediately attempt to assist the 48-year-old man who was trapped in the vehicle. Moments later Caney Creek Fire Department and MCHD arrived on the scene.

The driver was pronounced dead on the scene by Montgomery County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Mett’s.

Metts ordered the victim transported to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy by Eickenhorst Funeral Directors.

Officials believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash pending the outcome of the autopsy.

The deceased driver has been identified as Mark Brian Cobb of Kingwood, formerly of Spring.
