Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash on Lake Mount Pleasant Rd, east of Montgomery.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates on Monday, March 20, 2023, at approximately 2:32 p.m., a 1997 Honda Accord was traveling north on Lake Mount Pleasant Rd. at an unsafe speed through a curve on the roadway. The driver of the Honda lost control and veered into the southbound lanes causing a collision with a 2012 Toyota Tundra.
The driver of the Honda, 62-year-old Pete Standley Benkowski of Montgomery, Texas, was pronounced deceased on scene by Chief Nick Smith with the Montgomery County Hospital District.
The driver of the Toyota, 48-year-old Andre Laubscher of Conroe, Texas, was not injured.
