Just before 7 p.m. Wednesday, Magnolia Fire Fighters responded to a fatal crash just down the street from their station. They arrived to find a Ford Fusion had been hit almost head on, by a pickup. The driver of the Fusion, identified as 48-year-old Lisa Lynne Cathers was deceased on the scene. Animal Control was called for a dog in her vehicle.
In addition the driver of the Toyota pickup, Luc Tu Nguyen, 43, of Magnolia was entrapped. He was freed by firefighters and transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Woodlands in stable condition.
According to the investigation which is still ongoing, the Ford Fusion was westbound on FM 1488 near Octavia. The Toyota pickup was eastbound. For unknown reasons the Toyota crossed into the westbound lanes hitting almost head-on.
