At 5:23 pm Sunday, a crash was reported on SH 105 between SH 249 and Highway 6 near the intersection of County Road 417. Grimes County EMS and Fire responded and arrived with with fire and a grass fire. One was dead on the scene. DPS investigated the crash and determined that a 2022 Lincoln SUV was traveling eastbound on SH 105. A 2022 Subaru Legacy was traveling westbound, failed to drive in a single lane, and went into the eastbound lane, striking the Lincoln head-on. The Lincoln came to rest facing west in the eastbound lane when a 2016 BMW motorcycle traveling eastbound struck it head-on, catching fire, and then a 2018 Mercedes GLC side-swiped the Lincoln. The driver of the BMW motorcycle, Rene Martin, 35, of Montgomery, was pronounced deceased on the scene by Grimes County Justice of the Peace Lester Underwood. The driver of the Subaru was transported to Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. The driver of the Lincoln was transported to Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. The passenger was transported to CHI St. Joseph Regional – Bryan with suspected minor injuries. The driver and passenger of the Mercedes were transported to CHI St. Joseph Regional – Bryan with suspected minor injuries.
