VIDEO ADDED ON THIS MORNINGS LAKE CONROE HOUSE FIRE

Just after 4 am this morning calls started coming into the 911 center reporting a house fire across the lake with flames through the roof. It was quickly pinned down to 30 La Jolla Circle just off Walden Road. Conroe firefighters had just arrived at the Montgomery fire station as a back in as Montgomery was fighting another house fire from 2 hours earlier.  Within five minutes the alarms sounded and they were back out the door.

Arriving at the home they found heavy fire conditions with fire through the roof. Neighbors advised there could possibly be pets inside but the owner Sharon and Thomas Trial were out of town.

Conroe firefighters quickly called for a second alarm as winds fanned the flames of the almost 6,000 square foot home and threatened neighbors homes. Fire hydrant pressure was very low causing additional problems and Hayes Utilities were contacted to boost the plug pressure.

North Montgomery Fire Department responded with a tanker and a pumper from Willis. In a normal season they would have also responded with their fireboat. With the home perched on the lake it would have made fighting it much easier. However with the drought the water had all but left the docks standing in mid air.

As other departments arrived they were able to get a handle on the fire. Montgomery, Conroe, Lake Conroe, North Montgomery County, New Waverly and River Plantation firefighters battled the blaze. The Woodlands fire department was called on to back into Montgomery’s station in case another fire was dispatched. New Caney Fire Department was sent to back into River Plantation Fire station and the Rehab truck from Splendora was dispatched to the scene. MCHD also stood by with an ambulance just in case.

The home which appraised last year for $675,000 suffered extensive damage.

The fire was brought under control after 5am.
