WRECKLESS 18 WHEELER DRIVER-CONROE, TEXAS
Just before 4 p.m. today a Ben E. Keith 18-wheeler pulling trailer number 2317 was northbound on FM 1485 between SH 242 and Old Houston when he decided 50 MPH was not fast enough for him. In a curve, he passed three vehicles and forcing two southbound vehicles to the shoulder. It didn’t stop there. At Old Houston Road he left the light riding another vehicle bumper. As that vehicle turned into a private driveway the truck almost assisted him with a push.

He then continued north at over 60 mph and only slowed for the Ben Milam School zone due to vehicles in front of him.

Not yet out of the school zone he sped up again passing in the school zone and once again forcing a car to the shoulder.

HUNTSVILLE EXECUTION FOR MONTGOMERY COUNTY KILLER
A Texas man whose lawyers argued was mentally ill and incompetent for execution was put to death Wednesday evening for killing a 12-year-old girl more than a decade ago.

Jonathan Green, 44, received a lethal injection after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected last-day appeals to spare him. A judge earlier this week stopped the punishment, but an appeals court overturned the reprieve. Then 11th-hour appeals delayed the punishment nearly five hours past the initial 6 p.m. execution time and as the midnight expiration of the death warrant neared.

Asked by the warden if he had a statement from the death chamber gurney, Green shook his head and replied, “No.”

But seconds later he changed his mind, saying: “I’m an innocent man. I never killed anyone. Y’all are killing an innocent man.”

He then looked down and said his left arm, where one of the needles carrying the lethal drug was inserted, and said, “It’s hurting me bad.” But almost immediately he began snoring loudly. The sounds stopped after about six breaths.

Green was pronounced dead 18 minutes later at 10:45 p.m.

Green was condemned for the abduction, rape, and strangling of Christina Neal, whose body was found at his home in 2000 about a month after she was reported missing. Her family lived across a highway from Green in Dobbin, about 45 miles northwest of Houston.

Christina’s parents were among the people to watch Green die. They declined to speak with reporters following the execution.

Green’s lethal injection is the 10th this year in Texas and the first of four scheduled for this month in the nation’s most active death penalty state.

Green’s attorneys argued his hallucinations made him ineligible for the death penalty and said a state competency hearing for him two years ago was unfair.

That led to a reprieve from a federal district judge in Houston. But the Texas attorney general’s office persuaded the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn that ruling and lift the stay of execution late Tuesday.

Green’s lawyer, James Rytting, said his client hallucinated about the “ongoing spiritual warfare between two sets of voices representing good and evil.”

The appeals court found the procedures at Green’s competency hearing were not improper, that no Supreme Court precedents were violated and that it was reasonable to find Green competent for the death penalty.

Green told a psychiatrist who examined him before the competency hearing that he didn’t and couldn’t have killed Christina, that false evidence was used against him and that he understood a murder conviction could result in him receiving an injection that would kill him.

Supreme Court guidance says mental illness can’t disqualify someone from execution if they understand the sentence and reasons for the punishment, the state lawyers argued.

Green had declined to speak with reporters as his execution date neared.

Investigators questioned Green at least twice in the days following Christina’s disappearance 12 years ago. His wallet was found in some woods near clothing and jewelry that belonged to Christina, but authorities found nothing else of significance at the time. A few weeks later, a tip from a neighbor about an unusually large burn pile behind his ramshackle home brought them back again.

While Green had been cooperative in the past, he grew testy and ordered them off his property when an FBI agent looking at the fire site detected the smell of a decaying body and inserted a metal probe into a patch of disturbed earth. They returned hours later with a search warrant and a dog trained to detect human remains.

The dog led officers to the girl’s body, stuffed inside a laundry bag in the home and wedged into a corner behind a piece of furniture. Green contended someone else had placed the body there and that he was being set up.

Evidence at his trial indicated he had tried to burn the body, buried it in a shallow grave, then removed it when detectives left to obtain the search warrant. DNA from her remains tied him to the slaying. A carpet fiber from her panties found in the woods was traced to a carpet in his home.

Two years ago, Green came within about four hours of execution before the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals stopped the punishment amid similar arguments he was too delusional and too mentally ill to be put to death.

EAST MONTGOMERY COUNTY PURSUIT
On Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at 2:40 pm, Constable Hayden attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a silver passenger car traveling at a high rate of speed on Hwy 59 Northbound at Ford Rd. The white male driver tried to outrun the black patrol vehicle and traveled over seven miles during the pursuit, driving reckless at speeds over 90 mph. The pursuit traveled from Porter to North Park and into the highly populated Oak Hurst Subdivision in the Kingwood area. The driver led Deputy Constables and DPS out of the neighborhood and onto Sorters Road where the fleeing vehicle sideswiped a green truck at the intersection, causing the driver of that vehicle to be transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was able to spike the suspect’s vehicle while assisting in the pursuit. The driver of the fleeing vehicle lost control and collided with a Pct. 4 Constable’s Office patrol vehicle, causing the suspect’s vehicle to leave the road and crash into a small tree. The driver who was transported by EMS to a local hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries was identified as 24-year-old Zachary Frank. The passenger was identified as 27-year-old Jonathan Cooper. Both men are from the East Montgomery County area and both men have an extensive history with Law Enforcement. The driver was charged with felony evading arrest and the passenger was a wanted person. Deputies on the scene reported that a small number of narcotics were located inside the vehicle. The driver was released from the hospital and booked into the Montgomery County Jail without a bond, and the passenger was transported to the Montgomery County Jail for misdemeanor charges. No Law Enforcement Deputies were injured during this pursuit, but one patrol vehicle did receive minor damage.

UP0DATE ON TIFFANYS WOODLANDS ROBBERY

Deputies are still on the scene of the robbery at Tiffany’s at Market Street. From the information out to this point a black male with dreadlocks down to his shoulders entered the store and sprayed pepper spray, much like when the Citibank in Shenandoah was robbed. The suspect, a black male with a white baseball cap, purple shirt and dark-colored jeans was armed with an unknown weapon.

There was no description of the vehicle. However, a mall mounted spotted a black male get into a white pickup truck with a white female. Moments later deputies found them on Research at 45 but are unsure if they are suspects yet.

The reason for the little information at this time is the Woodland s Mall mounted patrol,  which is run by Alpha and Omega Security, instead of patrolling have at least six officers blocking roads around Tiffany’s. One approached this reporter and identified himself as a sheriff’s deputy and said photos are not allowed.

Moments later a member of Valor Security arrived and stated they were not affiliated with the mounted officers but Market Street is private property and the media is not allowed.

A short time later as a Channel 13 reporter arrived after an almost one hour trip from Houston. When she attempted to go to one of the businesses to use the restroom she was told by Valor the media is not allowed and she will be charged with Criminal Trespass.

Reporters with Channel 11 from Houston also had issues when security summoned the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to have them removed from the public sidewalk on Six Pines Drive. The deputy informed security that the sidewalk was public property.

EDITORS NOTE:

Many ask why nothing is reported in the Woodlands. It is not the Sheriff’s Office as they work extremely well with the media. In a robbery like this a person would think that getting a description out or looking for the robbers would be the top priority as the Sheriff’s Office did their job investigating the crime. They not being pulled off their jobs at the request of security to run the media off. In addition, when I asked Valor Security about returning to the shop he stated that the members of the media were not allowed on the property.

ROBBERY 24 HOUR FITNESS-THE WOODLANDS
At about 150 am Doug Donnenfield was sitting in his vehicle at the 24 Hour Fitness Center at Six Pines and Lake Woodlands in The Woodlands. He was waiting for a news talk show to end so he could go in and work out. A red car pulled in next to him and within moments two gun muzzles were in his face as a Black male punched him in the neck. The two suspects reached across him and took his cell phone and billfold. They then began screaming at him, saying, “where’s the money”. Both then jumped in the red car and fled the scene.

Donnenfield looked hard at the license number then yelled for help from two men leaving the club. He borrowed a cell phone and dialed 911.

Montgomery County Dispatchers immediately broadcast the license number on what was thought to be a red Dodge. A unit on Interstate 45 who had been watching traffic spotted the vehicle and followed it. When the vehicle crossed FM 2920 it started to speed up and a pursuit was initiated. Montgomery County Deputies chased the vehicle at speeds of up to 115mph south on I-45 to Loop 610. They then traveled east on 610 to Interstate 10 where the suspects turned westbound and continued to US 59. They then went south on 59 to the Gulf Freeway and started south to Scott Street. It was there that the Houston Police Helicopter who had just joined the chase spotted them throw a gun out on the freeway.

The vehicle exited Scott and ran to McGowan where it crashed out and the suspects fled on foot. Both were taken into custody within fifteen minutes. A third suspect was also arrested after it was determined he was the driver of the car and the two other suspects. A Houston Police Sergeant then returned to the Gulf Freeway where he found the gun with a round still in the chamber.

Donnenfield had already had a near-death experience over twelve years ago when he suffered a massive heart attack as he jumped into a pool. He was recovered from the pool and transported to the hospital after Paramedics revived him from total cardiac arrest. After the incident this morning his wife has banned him from using the gym at night.

The vehicle, a Chevrolet Veio, which was driven by the suspects was also reported stolen in a robbery in Houston.

HUMBLE POLICE-ARMOR CAR ROBBERY
Humble Police along with the FBI and the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force have arrested three people involved in the armored car attempted robbery last Monday.  Detective Squier with the Humble Police Department said one of the suspects who was linked to the vehicle used in the robbery was arrested  Thursday. Once he was in custody they quickly learned the identity of the other suspects and they were quickly rounded up. One of the suspects was shot in the shoulder during the gun battle but did not seek medical attention. He told police his girlfriend treated him.

The robbery took place Monday morning when the four pulled up to the armored car and the guards at the Chase Bank located at FM 1960 and US 59.  The guards were servicing the ATM machine at that location. Without warning the four jumped out of their vehicle and began firing from the rear of the guards taking them by surprise. One guard was hit and remains hospitalized.

Customers in a nearby shopping center dodged bullets by hitting the ground or getting inside businesses. Police say at least fifteen shots were fired.

The group then left the scene after one of their tires was shot out. They drove to Park Manor Nursing Home where they abandon their vehicle , jumped the fence and got into a waiting get-away car driven by a female. Police have talked to her but as of yet not detained her.

The three identified as Bobby Gray, 26, Stephen Carter, age 28 and William Williams, age 27.

Humble Police believe this was not their first robbery and are not releasing mug shots until Tuesday in an effort to use the trio in a line up of other victims.

All three are in the Harris County Jail, charged with aggravated robbery.

HPD OFFICER KILLED IN MOTORCYCLE CRASH
On October 11, 2015, at approximately 1:20 AM, Taurean Branford, an Houston Police Officer assigned to the Accident Investigation Unit was driving his 2007 Suzuki 750 motorcycle, in the 7000 block of SH 99 in the outside lane. Just before he reached FM 529 exit he struck a black cow that was in the outside lane. Investigators believe he actually may have gone under the neck area of the cow which threw him from the bike. The motorcycle continued almost 200 yards before it finally laid down. The damage to the motorcycle was limited to the handlebar area.

Moments later a female driver in a KIA who was also driving southbound did not see the cow in the road and struck the cow. She lost control and her vehicle went between the barrier cables. With one cable on each side of the vehicle, she was forced to have to exit the vehicle through the window. She was not injured. Branford was pronounced dead at the scene.

Branford, who lives in the area was returning from Prairie View A&M Homecoming events where he was a graduate. He was believed to be exiting the next exit as he normally does when going home.

The Grand Parkway has street lights approximately every 50 yards. However, early this morning it was pitch black on the road as none of the lights were working.

In addition, Meagan Messman was driving down the parkway earlier and spotted a cow near the road. She called the Harris County Toll Road Authority who as they took the report rudely told her that The Grand Parkway was under TXDOT and not the Toll Road Authority. She then called TXDOT and was met with a recorded message.

Harris County Deputies do not believe speed was a factor in the crash. They are also attempting to identify the owner of the stray cow.

MACGREGOR WAY APARTMENT FIRE
Dozens of residents in a southeast Houston apartment building had to evacuate Sunday morning after a fire started on the second floor.
It happened around 3 am in the Beall Village Apartments on North Macgregor Way.
Many elderly people live in the complex, including several who are wheelchair-bound. Everyone made it out safely. Firefighters had to perform very few rescues, instead, neighbors helped each other get out before crews arrived.
“I didn’t see an adequate exit and so we just had to go for it,” said Lester Smith. “I didn’t have no instructions to get out so I just went for the front.”
Smith says he lives on the second floor but went upstairs to help a friend who uses a wheelchair get out safely.
Other residents say they stayed inside as long as possible knocking on doors to wake people up.
“Finally I said forget it, let me call the fire department,” said Mary Sherman, who lives on the second floor. “I lost my cat and I don’t know where she is but I pray she’s okay.”
Firefighters are still trying to figure out how the fire started. They say the blaze was contained to one apartment because the concrete walls and ceiling kept it from spreading. There was not a sprinkler system in the building. The man who lives in that apartment suffered minor smoke inhalation and was the only resident taken to the hospital. He is expected to be OK.
Twelve units on the first floor were damaged by smoke and water. Those residents gathered in the building’s cafeteria where firefighters say apartment management is handling the situation.

Houston firefighters originally thought they were responding to a house fire but moments later the dispatched updated them to it being an apartment fire with entrapments. Engine 25 was first to arrive with Engine 46 right behind them. A crew from 46 immediately entered the inferno on the second floor and were able to knock the main body of the fire within minutes.

FM 1485 FATAL CRASH
Al lanes are back open on FM 1485 east after the fatal crash just before 3 am. DPS Investigators remain on the scene processing evidence. A 2015 Chevrolet was eastbound on FM 1485 near Willaby when the driver who is believed to have been intoxicated ran off the road after coming out of a curve. The driver then struck the rear of an 18-wheeler which was carrying over 50 empty propane tanks. The driver of the truck which was legally parked almost 12 feet off the road was asleep in his sleeper and was uninjured. The crash ripped part of the car off killing the 22-year-old male passenger instantly. The driver then fled the scene when a family member picked him up in a Cadillac. Police later located the driver on Idle Glen Roadway. He was treated for his injuries and transported to the Montgomery County Jail on charges of intoxication manslaughter. Additional charges are pending. A witness who was sitting at the stop sign saw the entire crash and stated the passenger was beyond help and was dead. Montgomery County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts pronounced the passenger deceased and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.

CONROE HOMICIDE
Conroe Police just cleared the scene of a victim shot in the head in front of Micheladas El Patio Mexican Restaurant in the Wood Creek Shopping Center just south of North Loop 336 on Frazier. The call came in just after 2 am. The victim is just outside the building. An attempt to locate was issued immediately and within minutes a Montgomery County Precinct 2 Constable spotted a 90’s model F-150 pickup matching the description. He waited until Shenandoah and Montgomery County Units were able to back him up at which time the driver was stopped in Shenandoah on the freeway. He was detained a short time until it was determined that he was not the suspect. Conroe Police do however now have a suspect in custody. Police say that the victim had come to the club with some female friends. The suspect tried to befriend the females but was told by the victim they were not interested. There was no altercation as they know of at this time. A little over an hour later as they were walking to the victim’s truck which was parked at the front door of the business, the suspect pulled up in a truck and shot the victim in the head and fled the scene. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene and was transported to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy. Police continue to question the suspect for additional details. This was the second homicide at the location in just over 48 hours.

Friday morning, at about 12:30 AM, Conroe Police Officers were dispatched to HCA Conroe Hospital in reference to an assault. Officers were told that a stabbing victim came into the emergency room with several other men. Officers quickly learned that the victim was involved in a large fight outside of Michelada El Patio, located at 2017 N. Frazier. Arriving Officers secured a large crime scene which included the parking lot and interior of the business. Numerous witnesses and employees were still at the location and gave Officers a description of the incident. Officers learned that the stabbing victim, Jorge Galeas Jr., 24, arrived at the bar with a group of friends. The group of men came across another group of males at the bar. Both groups had a previous history with each other and a fight ensued in the parking lot. At one point the Galeas Jr. was stabbed in the chest. The men left the location and took Galeas Jr. to the emergency room.
Detectives from Conroe PD arrived and began an investigation. Osman Gustavo Membreno, 19, was quickly identified as a suspect. At 3:00 AM Jorge Galeas Jr. died as a result of the stabbing. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Membrano and began searching for him. Within hours Conroe Police Officers were able to locate and arrest Membrano for the murder of Jorge Galeas Jr. Membrano was booked into the Montgomery County Jail for murder and is being held on a $500,000 bond. Chief Jeff Christy would like to thank all of the Law Enforcement Officers and agencies that assisted with the investigation and helped take a violent criminal off the street. Membrano, was out on a $500 bond for an assault which occurred on April 13, 2020. He failed to appear for court for that charge on September 15, 2020. The State requested Judge Stewart to issue a Capias Warrant on October 1st, and he issued a set-aside bond warrant for Membrano;s arrest.

PORTER FATAL FIRE-FORD ROAD
At 204pm Porter Fire Department responded to a reported mobile home fire in the 12500 block of Ford Road. While en route they were advised a female was still in the structure and having a hard time breathing with the smoke, The phone line then remained open and she was not responding to the dispatchers. Fire arrived on the scene to find four vehicles under a carport and a carport with heavy fire and spreading across the mobile home. Crews entered the structure multiple times and were unable to locate her. After the fire was knocked down the female was located on the opposite side of a partition wall that only had access from an outside door which was covered with collapsed debris. She was not a resident of the home but was visiting. Also, the owner of the home had reported everyone out safely, the firefighters did not know about the additional room which was not part of the interior of the main structure but was under the same roof. In addition just outside that door, a propane tank pressure relief valve had gone off due to the high heat. A larger propane tank was less than 100-feet from the structure used for commercial purposes was kept cool and was not affected. MCHD paramedics worked on her but she was pronounced deceased on the scene. Montgomery County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Jason Dunn responded to the scene and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy. The female was identified as Bobby Spears, age 60. The Montgomery County Fire Marshals Office is investigating. They believe the fire started in the 2007 Tahoe parked under the carport.

TODDLER LOST IN WOODS 70 HOURS RETURNS HOME
Dozens of Police and Fire equipment lined up on SH 249 at FM 2920 Monday afternoon awaiting Grimes County Sgt. Martha Smith was transporting Christopher Ramirez and his mother home from Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. He was transferred there over the weekend after being initially transported to Texas Children’s in The Woodlands. Christopher went missing shortly after noon on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. After a massive search, he was found by Tim Halfin, a property owner off FM 1486 who discovered Christopher deep in the woods off a pipeline south of the Crown Oaks Subdivision. Christopher had traveled at least four miles through the dense woods with brush and thorns. These were the same wood firefighters had to pass through while fighting the 2011 Wildfires which consumed thousands of acres of woods in three counties. The fire 19,960 acres burned for 28 days destroying 73 homes Christopher was severely dehydrated, scratched, and scraped. Christopher had bug bites, scrapes, scratches, and bruises. Doctors were initially worried about his kidneys after being so dehydrated. They gave him the thumbs up to go home today. On the way home Sgt eased to the back of the line then slowly moved back to the front as Christopher looked out the window in awe. Once home his mother thanked everyone. Sheriff Don Sowell who remained on the scene through the duration of the search found out Christopher liked police, he presented him with a Junior Deputy badge and a Grimes County Sheriff’s Office Patch. Grimes County Precinct 2 Constable Blake Jarvis did the same. Agent Obrien with the FBI who also assisted in the investigation for the duration presented Christopher with an FBI T-Shirt. The FBI, State, and Local Law Enforcement worked the case extremely hard. At one point the mother felt it was an abduction. Then on Friday Sheriff Sowell had a call from Sheriff Dodson in Brewster County, Texas. Brewster County is the largest county in Texas, about six times the size of Montgomery County, and encompasses the Big Bend, National Park. The Sheriff advised Sheriff Sowell that a motel clerk called in with a tip. She told law enforcement a male came in to use the restroom in La Linda, just miles from the International Bridge. As he was in the restroom the clerk struck up a conversation with the child who said he was three years old. He then told the clerk his name was Christopher. The clerk had seen the Amber Alert postings and immediately got several photos before they drove off. Law Enforcement in Mexico, DPS, Border Patrol, and County stopped every 4-door vehicle matching the description. They were finally able to locate the vehicle on the International Bridge. It was stopped. Indeed Christopher was in the vehicle but it wasn’t the Christopher they were looking for. The FBI worked day and night in Texas and Mexico before they were convinced this was not an abduction. Nights their aircraft flew overhead with FLIR cameras hoping to spot Christopher. DPS and drones were used during the day. However, a FLIR works off heat signatures, The cool nights were perfect but days at ninety-plus degrees and a body temperature the same it is almost impossible to differentiate.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY PRECINCT 4 PURSUIT AND MAN HUNT
Tuesday night just after 10:30 pm a Montgomery County Precinct 4 Deputy attempted to pull a Jeep over on FM 1485 at Gene Campbell. The driver accelerated and fled. A pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended just south of Jefferson Chemical and FM 3083 (Four Corners). The driver left the roadway and went behind the guardrail before striking a concrete embankment over a drainage ditch causing the Jeep to hang over it. The driver fled into the woods. Montgomery County Precinct 4 K-9 was put on the ground and tracked the male through extremely thick brush and over several barbed wire fences. He was unable to track further when they approached a 6-foot fence with barbed wire over the top. A perimeter was set up using Precinct 4 units, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Conroe Police, and DPS. DPS air support was called and within minutes DPS was overhead searching. As the search was winding down and the helicopter was about to pull off the DPS observer spotted a heat image lying on the ground off Rocky Road near Jefferson Chemical. Deputies were directed to the location where they found Logan Kent Box, 27 (10/11/95), of Porter. Box who was in his stocking feet had been scratched up badly while in the woods. He was also wanted on an open warrant in Montgomery County for a DWI. In addition, Box, a felon had possession of a pistol which deputies recovered. He was charged with felon in possession of a firearm and evading arrest. In addition, Box was intoxicated and admitted he had been celebrating his birthday all day by drinking Whisky. Box has been handled many times in Montgomery County with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, public intoxication, and DWI. In 2017 he was sentenced to two years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for deadly conduct. This was after he shot another male on May 20, 2017. He was originally charged with a second-degree felony of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, however, the charge was reduced to deadly conduct a Third-degree felony. His warrant for DWI stemmed from a September 5, 2020 DWI. He was sentenced to 3-days in jail but failed to pay his fine. Thus in January of this year, the warrant was issued. The Jeep he was driving was owned by his mother. Jason, with Jason Adamicks Wrecker, had to use caution recovering the Jeep. With the angle it was on and wedged on the concrete he was cautious not to let it roll over.
