KINGWOOD BURGLARIES
About 930pm the owner of the Kingwood Pawn Shop at Loop 494 and Northpark got a call from the alarm company stating the alarm had gone off. The owner, who had just finished eating dinner at home with his wife checked his security cameras. Seeing the front of the store caved in he told the alarm company to notify the police. He then responded to the scene. As Houston Police arrived several witnesses gave police the license number of a Chevrolet S-10 that had not just backed into the pawnshop, but also lost its camper shell in the parking lot. The 36-year old male got out of the vehicle and went 3 doors down and also forcibly entered the Cricket Store. Houston Police broadcast an alert for the vehicle. That’s when 2 wrecker drivers spotted it and followed it. At one point the driver ran off the road and hit a tree.

Police responded to a home on Evergreen Glade where the registration came back. There they located the male profusely bleeding from a deep gash on his arm. Houston Fire Department was dispatched to the scene. The male was transported to Houston NW Medical Center on FM 1960 in critical condition. Police questioned a family member who stated the suspect and his father left the house in the pickup to go for a ride and talk. The male appeared intoxicated. They learned the male first went to the Sherwin Williams Store on Northpark at Russell Palmer and made entry. His father, not wanting anything to do with the act got out of the vehicle and started to walk home. At Sherwin Williams, the suspect took several respirators, an aluminum platform, and 2 ladders. One of the ladders was found in the pawnshop parking lot. Police were able to locate the father at Church’s Chicken on Northpark and returned him to the scene. They determined he was not involved in the crime. The investigation of the Sherwin Williams store was done by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office as it was outside the city limits.

Charges are pending on the suspect once he is released from the hospital.

83 PERSONS RESCUED AS SOUTHERN EMPRESS RUNS AGROUND ON LAKE CONROE
Just before 11 pm Saturday evening the Southern Empress paddlewheel boat on Lake Conroe was returning to the dock with 83 passengers and crew aboard. According to the passengers, a fishing boat was in the path of the large vessel. The captain blew the horn several times but the fishermen did not move. The wind then moved the large vessel grounding it on a sand bar near Bird Island. Conroe Fire and North Montgomery County Fire responded as did the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Lake Patrol. Several other fishing vessels also responded. Between all the boats the passengers were removed from the boat. The boat then attempted unsuccessfully to dislodge itself. Tow Boats USA is now on the scene working to free the vessel. There were no injuries and was never a danger to the passengers. The same situation happened in 2015 when the vessel ran aground in almost the same area. With no rain, the lake is almost two feet below the normal pool. Several passengers say they never knew it had grounded until the crew informed them. Most were still dancing, in fact, several said they actually had almost an additional hour to enjoy the cruise before they were taken off. All said they would definitely return again as the cruise was great and the cre3w treated them like royalty.
