A Tale of Heartbreak, Guns, Shenandoah Police and Some Concrete…
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- Shenandoah Police caught a Harris County fugitive Friday, after a brief pursuit and crash. Around noon, a Shenandoah Officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle identified as potentially driven by a suspect in recent thefts in the city. The suspect chose not to stop and the SHPD unit pursued the vehicle. Ultimately, the stop was effectively completed by a pillar under I-45 at Airtex where the suspect crashed, but that’s not the crazy part of the story.
The suspect was identified as Rocshaun Holloway. When Dispatch checked the suspect’s identity, they found he had active felony warrants in Harris County stemming from an incident involving two women and a gun. According to Complaint filed by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office that states Holloway was living with a woman who reported going for a walk October 18, and unexpectedly finding Holloway’s vehicle and backed into a field that wasn’t theirs. She said he was inside the parked vehicle having sex with someone else. The woman told investigators she ended their relationship on the spot, and told Holloway to come and collect his belongings from their residence. According to her statement, Holloway failed to arrive quickly for his things, and she texted him, hoping to hurry the process, but he still didn’t arrive quickly. Already upset, she grew tired of waiting, gathered Holloway’s belongings, and threw them outside in front of the residence. The woman says she then left again. As she returned, she saw him, finally in front of the residence gathering his things. She said she kept her distance, knowing he was angry.
Just before leaving, the victim states Holloway fired his handgun into the air. He then appeared to leave, and she says she was walking back through the apartment complex to her residence when he appeared on the road outside the gate between them. She says he got out of his vehicle, again took out his handgun and it pointed toward her, firing two shots that struck the gate. That’s when she says she ran to her apartment and called 911. For unclear reasons, the responding Deputy documented the call but, according to the Complaint filed by the Deputy responding to the second incident, the first Deputy took no action beyond the documentation. The second Deputy, listed as Deputy C. Nash (no relation to this reporter) responded to the woman’s residence on November 3, after Holloway allegedly sent her threatening text messages related to a 9mm Smith & Wesson firearm she said he’d left under her bed. She said she told him she’d given the gun to police so he would leave her alone. However, she said, Holloway then threatened her saying she’d have to pay for the gun with her “blood” or with her “pocket”. The woman surrendered the gun to Deputy Nash, who ran a check on its serial number and found Houston Police had the gun listen as stolen.
After speaking with the victim, Deputy Nash carefully reviewed the report from the first incident, since he had additional information and evidence. His investigation also revealed in 2019, Holloway had prior Harris County convictions for a laundry list of charges, including second-degree felony Assault on a Peace Officer, Indecent Exposure and Burglary of a Habitation, Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, Credit / Debit Card Abuse, and felony Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.
Deputy Nash worked with prosecutors to secure warrants for Holloway for second-degree felony Aggravated Assault / Family Violence with a Weapon and for Terroristic Threat.
Law enforcement in Harris County hadn’t caught up with Holloway again since the warrants were issued, possibly due in part to his new address being unknown to Deputy Nash.
Fast forward to last Friday, when Shenandoah Police were patrolling and saw Holloway leaving a local business and thought to be a possible suspect in recent thefts in that city. The Shenandoah Officer initiated a traffic stop, and the frequent flyer with an evading history tried to flee again. He made it all the way to I-45 and Airtex when fate and a concrete pillar beneath the interstate marked the end of the pursuit and Holloway’s fugitive status. Shenandoah Police say Holloway had cocaine in his possession, along with multiple pieces of “identifying information” (debit or credit cards / IDs with someone else’s name).
Rocshaun Deon Holloway, 42, of Houston is charged with third-degree felony Evading in a Motor Vehicle; third-degree felony Fraudulent Use / Possession of 5 or more identifying information; Possession of cocaine (charge not accepted) and is held on Harris County warrants for second-degree felony Aggravated Assault Family Violence with a Weapon and misdemeanor Terroristic Threat. Additional charges may be pending in Harris County. He will be extradited to the Harris County Jail eventually.
Holloway is one of an ever-increasing number of Harris County criminals heading north to Montgomery County. He found out the hard way law enforcement in Montgomery County will pay attention and will not stop at the county line.
