Just after 11pm Walker County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a stolen vehicle in the New Waverly area. THe circumstances were a bit odd. A family reported another family member with Alzheimer’s drove off in their Chevrolet Equinox. It was being tracked and reported in the New Waverly area. Deputies spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it. THe female driver refused to stop and led Sheriff’s deputies on a lengthy low speed pursuit along SH 150. Several times the driver made a u-turn heading the opposite direction. About 11:45 OnStar was contacted and after verifying is was safe to shut the car down they did so , bringing it to a crawl. Deputies were finally able to stop the vehicle and detained the female, requesting EMS.
