STORY FROM 8/28/24 –
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constables are still searching for an auto theft suspect believed to be armed. About 2:30 pm deputies spotted a stolen pickup which had just been stolen and was off Coon Massey Road in Grangerland. A pursuit took place when the driver turned into an RV Park just north of the intersection of FM 1485 and FM 2090. The driver, a white male covered in tattoos and wearing a brown shirt and blue jean shorts fled into the woods. AS deputies got out on him a shot was fired and was believed to have been from the suspect. However, they later learned the landowner just north of the location fired a shot as the male ran across his property. Residents in the area have been watching out for each other lately as there have been several burglaries along FM 1485 and along FM 2090. This is believed to be due to the increase in homeless in the area as many see walkers and bike riders in the area very late at night and into the pre-dawn hours. Multiple deputies fanned out searching the area east of FM 1485, north of FM 2090 and west of Crockett Martin. A DPS Air Unit responded from DPS Regional Headquarters in Houston to assist but was forced to return after about an hour due to heavy storms building in the Houston area. Both the Sheriff’s Office and Precinct 4 Constables deployed drones to search the area. Montgomery County DEtectives remain on the scene assisting patrol and K-9 units in the search.
