...SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SOUTHERN GRIMES...SOUTHEASTERN BRAZOS...NORTHWESTERN MONTGOMERY...WEST CENTRAL SAN JACINTO AND SOUTHERN WALKER COUNTIES UNTIL 800 PM CDT... At 717 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 13 miles west of Huntsville State Park to 8 miles east of New Waverly. Movement was southwest at 15 mph. Wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with these storms. Locations impacted include... Conroe, Navasota, Willis, Panorama Village, Cut And Shoot, New Waverly, Montgomery, Anderson, Huntsville State Park, Lake Conroe Dam, Dobbin, Dacus, Plantersville, Richards and Evergreen. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. If on or near Lake Conroe, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
