WILDFIRE CONTAINED

Just before 4 p.m. Friday fire crews were dispatched to black smoke coming out of the woods neat County Road 304 and County Road 306. As crews arrived they determined they had wildfire of approximately 40 acres and growing with the 15 mile per hour winds.

Texas Forest Service was notified and within an hour crews from Plantersville, Navasota, South Brazos County, Lake Conroe and Montgomery Fire Departments were battling the blaze.

Three homes were evacuated but were protected by fire crews and not damaged.

By dark a line had been cut around the fire and with the higher humidity and winds dropping off the wildfire was contained.

The cause of the blaze has not been determined but a lightning storm passed through the area a short time before the blaze.
