WINTER STORM WARNINGS EXTENDED

Changes have been made to warnings and advisories as follows:
Winter Storm Warning now in effect until 6 AM Thursday For Burleson County.
Winter Weather Advisory in effect Until 6 AM Thursday for Washington, Brazos, Madison and Houston Counties.
Numerous Ice Storm and Winter Storm Warnings across a large portion of Texas.
Most of what we’ve seen so far in the warning and advisory for SE Texas is some ice build up on branches and other elevated surfaces. Most roads have been just wet but TxDOT has reported some icy patches on a few bridges and overpasses. The coldest temperatures and greatest ice accretion in our warning areas has been Burleson County with about a quarter of an inch on branches there, closer to a tenth of an inch in other spots. Please relay any additional reports you have regarding impacts from this storm!
More precipitation is expected tonight which should fall as just rain across the forecast area except for portions of the counties in the advisory and warning area where temperatures may hover near or below freezing. No winter impacts are expected south and east of those impacted counties.
Looking more regionally, a significant ice storm is on tap for areas farther north and west. The map below shows winter storm warnings in pink and ice storm warnings in purple where a large build-up of ice is possible tonight
