On Wednesday, the Houston Division of DEA and Austin County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Mexican National who was in the country illegally. They seized 600Kgs of crystal meth.
This month has kept law enforcement busy with seizures. In another seizure, boxes of Promethazine, firearms, and several other prescription drugs were seized by DEA Houston Division. Misuse of prescription drugs could lead to serious side effects and can be fatal. DEA diversion investigators prevent prescription medication from ending in the black market.
In McAllen the Houston Division of DEA seized over 1000 pounds of meth hidden within pallets of blueberries.
On March 6, DPS Special Agents and Troopers responded to the Pharr Port of Entry regarding a 2019 white International truck-tractor semitrailer suspected of narcotics smuggling by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). After a secondary inspection, DPS Special Agents recovered 150 plastic-wrapped bundles of cocaine concealed in the vehicle’s cargo area. The cocaine weighed more than 500 pounds and has an estimated street value of $6.8 million. The driver, Mario Robledo, 33, from Mexico, was arrested and charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance. He was booked into the Hidalgo Co Jail. DPS’ Criminal Investigations Division is further investigating this case.
Then last month, just miles from Conroe in the Colony Ridge area of Liberty County, 344 pounds of meth was seized. The men, Gerson Lopez Zuniga, Cruz Isidro Sandoval, and Adan Aguirre Arzate, were all stopped during a traffic stop in which Sandoval admitted to having a massive supply of illegal narcotics hidden in a trailer at a Colony Ridge property. “Sandoval was charged with Manufacture/Delivery Controlled Substance over 400g (Felony 1) while Zuniga and Aguirre were jailed with ICE holds.
