WEST MONTGOMERY COUNTY – A 55-year-old Cypress man was pronounced dead on the scene of what police say was a high-speed crash Wednesday night on FM 249 near Rollingwood St.
Around 7 p.m., a 2005 silver Chevy Corvette driven by Dana Burkett was northbound on FM 249 where the roadway narrows from three lanes to two when the vehicle clipped the curb on the left side of the road, crossed the other two lanes and left the roadway.
The car flipped and struck a high tension power line, snapping the pole in half and dropping live wires, which caused multiple small grass fires.
