CONROE- A Conroe woman was critically injured around 8:15 a.m. Monday morning, when her vehicle collided with a Conroe Independent School District bus in the 900 block of the Interstate 45 feeder road.
Investigators say Melissa Mendoza Reyes, 40, rear-ended the bus when it was stopped to pickup children. The flashing red lights on the bus were in operation at the time of the collision, officials said.
No students were on the bus when it was struck and the bus driver was not injured. The bus sustained minimal damage because the car basically ran under it. The car, however, was heavily damaged and
Reyes was rushed by MCHD ground ambulance to Memorial Hospital in Houston.
Medical helicopters were forced to turn down multiple requests for the transport of critical patients Monday morning due to weather conditions.
Conroe Police are coordinating with CISD Police in their investigation of the crash.
