Just before 1 am, Conroe Police responded to a reported major accident on I-45 northbound just before the FM 830 exit. Units arrived to find a Toyota Corolla had struck a Toyota Rav 4 which was parked on the shoulder. I-45 was shut down immediately trapping hundreds of vehicles between FM 830 and League Line Road. Conroe Police investigated. They discovered the Rav 4 which had been parked on the shoulder at least a day was occupied by a female in her 50s. She was deceased but it is believed not due to the crash. The driver of the Corolla stated he was northbound when he fell asleep at the wheel and ran off the roadway. The female was transported to the Montgomery County Forensic Center by Eickenhorst Funeral Directors. An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.
