Just after 1am a 2009 Infiniti was westbound at an extremely high rate of speed. When Gregory Paul Bitner, age 43 crossed Branch Crossing the car became airborne causing the driver to lose control and striking the trees in the median between eastbound and westbound Woodlands Parkway. The vehicle traveled over 100 feet clearing trees in its path. When the vehicle came to rest the driver was entrapped . The vehicles engine and transmission were separated and almost fifty feet behind the vehicle.just before he crossed Branch Crossing.
A Montgomery County deputy working traffic near the intersection clocked the vehicle at 110 just before he crossed Branch Crossing.
Woodlands Fire Department was dispatched along with MCHD. The driver was pronouced dead on the scene by Precinct 5 Justice of the Peace Matt Masden. Metcalf was ordered to transport the victim to Dallas for autopsy.
Woodlands Fire Department spend almost twenty minutes cutting the victim out one Cody;s Wrecker was used to pull the vehicle out of the trees.
