Just before 6:30 pm Montgomery County Sheriffs Office started receiving calls of several men inside the Merkels Jewelers at 9595 Six Pines Drive in The Market Street area. As units swarmed the store a description went out on a vehicle involved. Other patrol units started watching Interstate 45 when one deputy keen eye spotted the vehicle in heavy traffic and initiated a pursuit. The chase entered the Hardy Toll Road and continued south exiting FM 1960 then re-entering the freeway crashing through the toll road signs. The driver then exited Richey and re-entered the Toll Road to Rankin where once again they exited and continued west on Rankin to Imperial Valley with speeds once again reaching 100 miles per hour. The driver then traveled south on Imperial Valley to Greens Then over to Benmar and the Belt. From there the suspects went down FM 525 to Interstate 45 and south with police still in pursuit. When they exited Mount Houston they crashed into a pole and jumped out on foot. One of the males attempted to enter the Sonic through the front doors but it was locked and he fled. The other two entered the Sonic through the drive-in windows. As the one fleeing suspect was captured another was taken into custody. Houston  Police searched the cooler area of the Sonic and did not find the other male. A few minutes later a Sonic employee went into the store and ran back out screaming one suspect was inside. That suspect fled across the parking lot where he was taken into custody in the middle of busy West Mount Houston. . One other was also taken into custody making it a total of four suspects.
