Most everyone knows Slinky Knox in East Montgomery County. Slinky owns Saddle Creek Towing and Recovery and has helped residents in East County for years. e would give someone the shirt off his back. When the floods come, Slinky’s airboat hits the water, when a car drives off in a dark pond during the night it is Slinky that strips to his shorts and doing a cannonball goes into the pond to hook up a winch cable. Start a fight with a police officer, Slinky’s going to end it as soon as he gets involved. Even when a gator crosses FM 2090 it’s Slinky who tames and captures it and awaits the game warden. You hear about the chicken that crossed the road? Well Knox didn’t think it would make it across Us 59 at FM 2090 so captured it and put in in a fellow wrecker driver tool box for safe keeping. Â Knox is fearless, he gets called many time by law enforcement to tame something wild. Thursday morning, he came to the scene where a Montgomery County Deputy had a turtle. Knox heard the deputy asking for assistance on the turtle. Knox called him and told him just pick up the snapping turtle by the tail and put it in the ditch. When he was told it was to big Knox decided to respond to Lazy Lane and FM 1314 where the turtle was making its way through the nail salon parking lot toward FM 1314. Knox held it there until a Game Warden from Texas Parks and Wildlife could respond and take custody of it.
