WRONG WAY DRIVER HITS CONROE WOMAN ON SH 99 AND THEN DRUNK DRIVER HITS PATROL CAR

Just before 3am Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office began taking calls for a wrong way driver on SH 99 near the San Jacinto River Bridge. Calls continued to come in as the calls were then forwarded to Harris County as the vehicle was about to enter Harris County. Harris County Dispatchers immediately started alerting units. Multiple HCSO units converged on SH 99. With some units going to SH 249 and additional units going to FM 2920. Those units blocked all the eastbound traffic and waited for the wrong way driver as he continued west in the eastbound lanes. Harris County Precinct 4 entered SHH 99 at Kuykendahl just as the wrong way driver hit an eastbound minivan. The driver of the van who was returning to her home in Conroe spotted the driver coming at her and swerved. That swerve probably saved her life as the two vehicles hit passenger side to passenger side. There were no injuries. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for DWI. His passenger was released to a friend. As this was happening, the HCSO units blocking the road at FM 2920 tangled with another intoxicated driver as she hit the patrol car causing minor damage. She too was arrested for DWI.
