At 9:03am Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a call for a possible crash on I-69 near Roman Forest. East Montgomery County Fire arrived to find a van with an object through the windshield. There were no injuries, so the vehicle, which was drivable, was taken to the Woodbranch Police Department parking lot and was worked by Woodbranch Police. The driver of the Dodge Journey, Don Scott, had just dropped his 1-year-old son off at the sitter’s house and was planning a stop at McDonald’s on SH 242 before returning home in Cleveland. His 2-year-old boy was in the child seat behind him. As they passed Roman Forest Drive, a large tie-down bracket “STRAP CINCH” broke off an 18-wheeler trailer and went through the windshield on the passenger side. With such force, it broke the headrest on the front passenger seat and hit the child safety seat where the one-year-old had been sitting. It then hit the rear-side passenger window, breaking it and denting the pillar. There were no injuries. Saddle Creek Towing transported the vehicle back to Cleveland. It is unknown what truck the object came from.
