On Sunday, October 11.2026, at approximately 3:40 AM, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office District 5 deputies were dispatched to the 16800 block of W Grand Parkway N in West Harris County in reference to an unidentified driver. The driver continued northbound until reaching the end of the grass median that opened to the underpass going airborne striking the wall of the other side. The vehicle struck the wall and caught on fire with the driver inside. Spring Creek Fire Department arrived on scene and found the unidentified driver inside the vehicle with no signs of life at approximately 3:50 AM. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office – Vehicular Crimes Division was assigned to investigate the crash. Crash Investigators arrived and gathered additional information. The driver was from the New Caney area. The preliminary information does not reflect the final findings of this investigation.
EDITORS NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE FIRST ONE; SEVEN OF THESE CRASHES THAT I KNOW ABOUT IN THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS. THERE IS NO GUARDRAIL BETWEEN THE EASTBOUND/WESTBOUND OR NORTBOUND/SOUTHBOUND LANES OF THE GRAND PARKWAY. VEHICLES GO BETWEEN THE GUARDRAILS, WHICH ARE ON THE INSIDE SHOULDER, THEN BASICALLY LAUNCH BETWEEN THE OVERPASSES TO THE ROAD BELOW.
