MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- A man was arrested on a third-degree felony organized retail theft charge after deputies with Pct. 4 Constable Rowdy Hayden’s Office caught up with the suspect accused of stealing Pokémon cards from a Porter GameStop and linked him to a similar theft reported days earlier. Earlier Thursday afternoon, Pct. 4 deputies assigned to the East Montgomery County Improvement District’s Safe Shopper initiative responded to the GameStop for a reported theft in progress involving Pokémon cards.
Deputies located the man at the store and began investigating. During the investigation, they identified him as the suspect in a separate theft involving similar merchandise reported Sunday, Nov. 1. Deputies gathered information about the latest theft and contacted the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office. Following that consultation, they arrested 24-year-old Stanley C. White.
The Pct. 4 Constable’s Office said deputies will increase patrols at shopping centers throughout East Montgomery County during the holiday shopping season. The additional patrols are made possible through the East Montgomery County Improvement District’s Safe Shopper initiative and aim to provide a safer environment for shoppers and local businesses.
The suspect is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
