A 20-year-old Round Rock man wanted in connection with an armed robbery that left a man dead in North Austin more than a year ago is now in the Montgomery County Jail, the sixth suspect arrested in the case.
Franklyn Steven Wallace Zeledon, of Round Rock, was arrested at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, and booked into the Montgomery County Jail in Conroe on Travis County warrants charging him with capital murder, two counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, and engaging in organized criminal activity. Jail records also show an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold. The charges stem from the Aug. 3, 2025, shooting death of Miguel Mondragon, 49.
According to arrest affidavits, Wallace Zeledon and several others followed Mondragon and two other men from La Toxika, a north Austin sports bar, and surrounded their red Chevrolet truck in the parking lot of a La Michoacana Market near Interstate 35. Surveillance video showed a gray sedan and a white SUV blocking the truck’s path as several people wearing masks and carrying firearms walked up to the vehicle. The men in the truck told investigators they heard multiple gunshots, fled and called 911. Surveillance video showed Mondragon crawling away before he stopped in a nearby grassy area, where officers found him dead from a gunshot wound to his right thigh.
Investigators say they identified Wallace Zeledon through interviews with the five other suspects and through cellphone records. One suspect, Yurisander Gongora Rojas, told investigators a dark gray Mazda 3 used in the robbery belonged to him and named Wallace Zeledon as one of the men who got out of the car armed and masked. Another suspect, Hector Achang Batlle, told investigators that he, Wallace Zeledon and another man approached the truck wearing masks and carrying guns. Batlle said he fired his handgun twice, trying to puncture the truck’s tires so it could not get away, and that the group planned to take the victims’ property and split its value among five people, including Wallace Zeledon. Investigators also obtained phone records showing three calls to or from a number associated with Wallace Zeledon in the area of La Toxika around the time of the shooting.
Police allege the group deliberately followed the victims, boxed in their vehicle and approached them with firearms before Mondragon was shot and killed. According to the affidavits, one of the suspects had worked at the bar until she was fired for stealing cash and wallets from customers, and she told detectives she would point out customers who would be good candidates to rob. Mondragon was targeted because of his gold jewelry, the affidavit states.
