Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest After Deputies Find Contraband

HARRIS COUNTY, TX- A traffic stop Oct. 11 led to the arrest of a driver after deputies with Pct. 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office discovered a handgun equipped with an automatic conversion device and multiple suspected narcotics, according to the constable’s office.

Deputies stopped the vehicle in the 12300 block of Will Clayton Parkway and identified the driver as Prince Rodriguez.

During the investigation, deputies allegedly found a Glock 27 handgun equipped with an automatic conversion device, commonly known as a switch, which can convert a semiautomatic firearm to fire automatically.

Deputies also reported finding 42 THC vape cartridges, a bottle containing 25 Xanax pills and approximately 33 grams of marijuana.

Rodriguez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail on a charge of unlawful possession of a prohibited weapon. His bond was set at $10,000 through the 351st District Court.

Additional charges are pending laboratory analysis of the suspected narcotics, authorities said.

“Illegal weapons equipped with automatic switches pose a serious threat to public safety,” Constable Mark Herman said. “Our deputies remain committed to proactively removing these dangerous weapons from our streets and keeping our communities safe.”

Rodriguez is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
