WALKER COUNTY – As of 11 p.m., the search for the missing 3-year-old was continuing in the Sam Houston National Forest. According to Jimmy Williams, of the New Waverly Fire Department, searchers are still on the ground with canines, and the search will continue until the child is located. Multiple agencies from Walker and Montgomery Counties are assisting involved.
At this time, they ARE NOT ALLOWING CIVILIAN VOLUNTEERS. Experienced rescue groups are in the woods and additional people could make it more difficult for the dogs to track the child’s scent, in addition to the possibility of well-meaning civilians become lost in the dense woods and creating another issue to be dealt with.
MCPR will continue to follow the situation and update when there is new information.
