AIR JORDANS CAN’T OUTRUN THE POLICE

Saturday morning DPS attempted a routine traffic stop on US 59 north bound over the Caney Creek bridge. As troopers were talking with the driver, Thomas Eric Tyrone, 32 of Houston his passenger Don James Slaughter, 31, jumped out of the vehicle in his Air Jordans and a blue duffle bag and fled down the embankment of the overpass to the FM 1485 turn around below. With troopers in pursuit he ran into the heavily wooded area along Caney Creek. As he fled he dumped a bag of narcotics on the ground.

DPS then requested Montgomery County Precinct 4 to respond with Oliver, their bloodhound. After searching the woods for some time Oliver led them under the Loop 494 bridge and to the railroad bridge. At that point he stopped indicating the suspect was near. Within a short time Slaughter was found to be hiding in the framework of the bridge. After getting him down he was taken into custody.

Slaughter, who was sent to jail with his muddy Air Jordan’s remains in the Montgomery County Jail on a $10,000 bond for tampering with evidence. He is also charged with evading arrest. That charge, a felony was not his first conviction.

Tyrone was arrested by Trooper for a misdemeanor motion to revoke warrant.
