LARGE HUFFMAN PARTY CANCELED BY HARRIS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

(HOUSTON, TX) – Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office pulled the plug on a massive party planned for last Saturday in northeast Harris County and promoted to hundreds on social media sites.

On Friday, deputies received an anonymous tip about a large-scale party that was to take place at an open field in Huffman on Saturday, October 6. Due to the fact that they expected underage drinking and drug use, among other things, deputies took immediate action to shut down the plans. When deputies arrived at the location Friday afternoon, they found the lock on the gate to the private property had been cut. When contacted, the property owners said they did not give anyone permission to use their land and gave deputies permission to pursue criminal charges. Inside the property deputies located the three organizers. All three, including one juvenile, were arrested and charged with criminal trespassing.

Upon their arrest, deputies convinced one of the adult organizers to post a message on his social media webpage alerting would-be attendees that the party had been canceled. That message read in part "The Ranch Party is cancelled!  The Harris County Sheriff’s Department are 100% aware of this party and will be in full force in the Huffman area…”

The organizers expected attendance of four thousand or more at the event. Thanks to the anonymous tip and the work of the deputies a massive, unlawful, scene was avoided.
