Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office arrested Harold Newton Smith III of Spring on October 1, 2012, for online solicitation of a minor and aggravated sexual assault of a child stemming from a multi-week investigation.
Investigators learned that a 13 year old male, who lives in South Montgomery County, met Smith on a social networking site and the two arranged to meet. The victim’s mother found suggestive text messages on the boy’s phone and notified the Sheriff’s Office.
Last week detectives posing as the juvenile arranged a meeting with the suspect via text messaging and when Smith arrived at the meeting place he was arrested
