southwest montgomery county resident charged with intoxicated manslaughter

Julie Little, 38 who lives in the Stage Coach area of Montgomery County was driving her three day old Camaro at a high rate of speed westbound on the Sam Houston Toll Road just after 11 p.m. Wednesday. When she approached the toll booths she lost control hitting the barrier at the lane entrance. Her vehicle then went airborne hitting the toll booth glass and then striking 48-year-old Sheila Lindsey, a custodian who has been with the Harris County Toll Road Authority for the past 15 years. Lindsey who had been cleaning the closed toll booth lane  was drug 75 yards and died on the scene.

Meanwhile Little was taken to Houston Northwest Medical Center on FM 1960. A mandatory blood draw was done but the blood analyzer was not operational.

Deputies then contacted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. One of the prosecutors said they had no alternative then to let her go according to Precinct Four Assistant Chief Mark Herman. There was no attempt to take her to another medical facility that was capable of testing her blood then.

The District Attorney’s Office denies this saying that it never tells an officer whether they can or cannot hold someone on a charge.

A short time later Harris County Precinct 4 Deputies were able to test the blood an determined the blood alcohol level to be .165 which is more than twice the legal limit. In addition three narcotics were also found in her system.

Thursday afternoon she was arrested in Montgomery County, magistrated and returned to Harris County to face the Intoxicated Manslaughter charges.
